Director

Chantale Dumoulin

Chantale Dumoulin is the Director and Founder of the laboratory. As Full Professor at the School of Rehabilitation at the Université de Montréal, she developed and currently directs a graduate perineal and pelvic rehabilitation program for physiotherapists, the only program of its kind in Canada. Prof. Dumoulin was also the holder of the Canada Research Chair in Urogynecological Health and Aging from 2012 to 2022 and is a researcher specialized in pelvic floor dysfunction at the Research Centre of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal.

Prof. Dumoulin is interested in the pelvic health of older women. Her research aims to better understand pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and improve prevention and treatment, as well as identify women most likely to benefit from conservative treatments, such as pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation. Her methodological expertise includes the development and psychometric evaluation of measurement tools, the evaluation of the effectiveness of preventive or curative treatments through randomized clinical trials and other studies, as well as writing systematic reviews.

Research Internship

Léa Mei Chicoine, PT, MSc

Léa Mei Chicoine

Léa Mei is a graduate of the Université de Montréal, where she obtained her bachelor's and professional master's degrees in physiotherapy. During her Master's, she had the opportunity to learn about perineal and pelvic rehabilitation by completing the first course of the graduate microprogram in this field.

Since 2020, she has been working as a physiotherapist in a private clinic, with a particular focus on perineal rehabilitation. She recently consolidated her skills by completing the microprogram in perineal and pelvic rehabilitation in 2023.

Léa Mei has also been awarded a grant from the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ) for an introductory laboratory research internship in 2023. Her research project aims to implement an advanced physiotherapy practice model in a hospital environment, focusing on the management of clients suffering from urinary incontinence.
